On Thursday 3 September 2020, the giant bottle supplied by Cantine Gancia, the historic Canellese company that created the first Italian sparkling wine in 1865, was inaugurated in Canelli, on the Goria overpass.
The bottle, already present in front of the Cantine Gancia headquarters (made in the late 1950s by Enzo Aliberti), has been revisited by equipping it with the new screen printing dedicated to Asti Spumante on the front, and on the back the logo of the 50th UNESCO site to which the Asti territory belongs.
To the side of the bottle, an installation depicting a cork provided by Max Cork was placed, reflecting the cork factories in the area.
The municipal administration of Canelli wishes to thank the following companies that contributed to the realization of the project: to Cantine Gancia in the person of Alessandro Picchi and Eng. Davide Magnone, at Max Cork in the person of Massimo Careddu, at the Associazione per il patrimonio dei Paesaggi vitivinicoli di Langhe-Roero e Monferrato represented by Vice President Annalisa Conti, at Marmoinox, Olivieri Costruzioni, Transfer Grafica and finally Eng. Andrea Soria creator of the original bottle design.
The City of Canelli specifies that the event was held by invitation given the current health emergency in order not to create gatherings, and that it did not commission the explosion of firecrackers for free sale during the event, and therefore did not incurred no cost for the show.
Canelli is sparkling wine, the beginning of a new project that will involve other major Canelli wineries.
